One of my kids once stopped me mid-dinner with a question I wasn’t expecting:
“Do I have bones in my ears?”
Not silly. Not off-topic. Completely, perfectly right for where their brain was at. And the answer is yes — three of them, in fact. The smallest bones in your entire body, and they do exactly one job: they help you hear.
That question sparked one of my favorite conversations we’ve ever had about the human body. And it’s exactly the kind of moment MedPath Foundations is built around.
Young kids are already asking the right questions. They just need someone to take those questions seriously and give them real answers.
What Is MedPath Foundations?
MedPath Foundations is the first level of MedPath — the only physician-built pre-med program for kids and teens. It’s designed for curious younger learners, typically ages 6 to 8, who are ready to start exploring how their bodies actually work.
This is not a watered-down science class. It’s not fun facts about the body dressed up with cartoon characters. It’s real anatomy, taught with clinical accuracy and explained in a way young kids can genuinely understand and feel proud of.
If your child is the one who asks what’s inside their tummy, pokes their own kneecap to feel what’s underneath, or wants to know why their heart beats faster when they run — Foundations is where they start.
Why Start Learning Anatomy This Young?
The most common thing I hear from parents is some version of “isn’t this a little early?” And I understand the instinct. But here’s what I know from decades of clinical practice and teaching thousands of students:
Young brains are primed for this. Just the way young children absorb language more naturally than adults do, young kids absorb the language and patterns of science more easily than older students. The vocabulary, the connections, the framework — it all goes in faster and stays longer when you start early.
Starting early doesn’t mean pushing hard. It means giving kids years to absorb, revisit, and build on what they know — so that when they encounter this material again in middle school or high school biology, it already makes sense. They’re not seeing it for the first time and cramming. They’re deepening something they already understand.
What squeamish kids can expect
Squeamishness almost always comes from mystery and surprise, not from knowledge. Kids who understand what a kidney actually does and why it looks the way it does are far less squeamish about it than kids who just see an image with no context.
MedPath Foundations teaches the body the way a good physician explains it to a patient — clearly, calmly, and with enough context that things make sense instead of feeling strange. Most “squeamish” kids turn out to love this material once someone explains it properly.
What’s Included in MedPath Foundations
MedPath Foundations is built around short, physician-led video lessons and the same Anatomy Coloring Book we use with older students — adapted with guidance so younger learners can work through it with confidence.
Physician-led video lessons
Dr. Robin does the teaching. Each lesson is short — usually around 10 minutes — and explains the content clearly enough that kids understand it and parents don’t need any science background to support them. You’re the guide. MedPath equips you to play that role well.
The Anatomy Coloring Book
The coloring book is worked through alongside the video lessons — Dr. Robin colors through it with the student on screen, so no one is left staring at a page wondering what they’re supposed to do. The coloring isn’t busywork. It’s how the anatomy becomes personal and memorable.
Annual subscribers receive the physical coloring book shipped to their door. Monthly subscribers can print the pages for each lesson as they go.
Progress tracking
Each student gets their own login so their progress is tracked automatically. They can move at their own pace, revisit lessons whenever they want, and pick up exactly where they left off.
Who MedPath Foundations Is For
MedPath Foundations is the right starting point for:
- Kids ages 6 to 8 who are curious about how their bodies work
- Any student who is brand new to clinical-level science, regardless of age
- Families who want to give a young learner a genuine head start in health science
- Kids who ask a lot of questions about bodies, health, and how things work — and deserve real answers
It works alongside whatever school science your child is already doing. It’s not a replacement — it’s the clinical depth that general science never provides, started early enough to matter.
What Comes After Foundations?
MedPath Foundations is the on-ramp. Once your child has built the foundation — the vocabulary, the curiosity, the framework for how the body works — they’re ready to move into the full MedPath levels:
- MedPath Level 1: Essentials of Human Health — a guided tour through all the body’s major systems
- MedPath Level 2: Principles of Clinical Biology — where students begin thinking like clinicians
- MedPath Level 3: Comprehensive Medical Biology — real clinical reasoning, pathophysiology, and hands-on labs
Each level builds on the last. Students move forward when they’re ready, not when a grade level says they should.

The Goal Isn’t a Kid Who Can Pass a Test
The goal is a kid who asks why — and starts making different choices because the answer actually makes sense to them.
A student who begins learning real human anatomy at six years old doesn’t get overwhelmed. They get ahead. By the time their peers encounter the skeletal system for the first time in middle school, a MedPath Foundations student has already built the vocabulary, the curiosity, and the framework that makes everything else make sense. That’s what MedPath Foundations starts.
Clinical from Day One.
Even at six years old, your child doesn’t need to wait to start learning real science. MedPath Foundations doesn’t water it down or dress it up. It teaches the human body the way a physician would — with accuracy, clarity, and genuine respect for what young minds can handle. The foundation we build here is the same one that supports everything that comes after it. Clinical from day one.
