Hey friends—Dr. Robin here again!
If your kids have been with us for a while, you’ve probably noticed something: they’re growing. Not just taller (though wow, some of them are sprouting like beans!), but also as thinkers, question-askers, and learners. And that growth? It’s exactly why we’re updating the science program this year.
The Problem I Didn’t See Coming
Growing up, I loved learning. I read constantly—especially historical fiction. I had a head full of stories, timelines, and connections. In kindergarten, my mom taught me fractions while I was home sick. We cut up circles, played with dice, and I was enchanted. That curiosity stayed with me.
But here’s the thing: I didn’t actually learn how to study until medical school.
And that is not when you want to figure that out.
Before then, school came easily. I thought struggling meant something was wrong. I didn’t realize it was a key part of deep learning. So when medical school hit—and I suddenly couldn’t coast anymore—I crashed.
Not because I wasn’t smart. But because I didn’t have the tools.
What I Wish I’d Learned Sooner
That’s why this new phase of Dr. Robin’s School matters so much to me. We’re not just offering harder material—we’re offering the right kind of challenge.
Here’s what we’re building into the updated program:
- Learning how to study effectively
We’ll guide students in building habits that go beyond memorizing—habits that support real understanding and long-term growth. - Cultivating critical thinking skills
We’re designing lessons that encourage kids to ask better questions, connect ideas, and explore with intention. - Developing the capacity to struggle productively
We want students to know: it’s okay not to get it right away. Learning is about effort, persistence, and curiosity—not perfection.
Why This Matters for Your Family
Whether your kids are homeschooled, learning after school, or dreaming of a future in medicine, this next level of our program is designed to meet them where they are—and help them grow into where they want to be.
We’re not here to make things harder for the sake of being hard. We’re here to give your kids the tools I wish I’d had—to help them feel confident when learning gets tough.
What’s Next
We’ll be sharing more details soon. But for now, I just wanted to say: thank you. Thank you for trusting me with your kids’ learning. Thank you for growing with us.
And remember: this isn’t about getting every answer right. It’s about building strong, flexible minds that know how to learn, how to think, and how to keep going.
We’re in this together—and I’m so excited for what’s ahead.
Talk soon,
