Hey friends—Dr. Robin here!
I want to let you in on something exciting we’ve been working on behind the scenes. Over the years, we’ve heard from so many families who love our science program but wish there were more options, more structure, or just more support as their kids grow.
And you know what? We listened.
Why We’re Making This Change
Starting this fall, we’re introducing a new and improved version of our science curriculum—one that helps kids start at the right level for them and then grow into greater challenges, step by step, year by year.
We’re still finalizing all the details, but I wanted to share a bit of the “why” behind this update—because it’s really close to my heart.
A Childhood Moment That Changed Everything
Growing up, science wasn’t something I learned from a textbook—it was something I lived. I had a garden. I experimented with plant genetics long before I knew what that meant. Science felt natural and exciting at home.
But at school? It felt rigid. It was all about right or wrong answers. And that just didn’t match how I saw science—as a way to understand the world around me, to connect the dots, to explore big questions.
One moment really stands out.
I was six years old, at a well-child checkup. When the nurse weighed me, I had a question: “What if I just ate a big meal—would that make me heavier?” She brushed it off, but then the doctor showed me my growth chart and explained how even a couple pounds could move my spot on the graph.
That chart—a picture of numbers that told a story—blew my mind. I had to know more.
So I did an experiment. I remembered the saying “a pint’s a pound the world around,” filled a pint jar with water, weighed myself, drank the whole thing (tougher than you’d think!), and weighed myself again.
Sure enough: one pound heavier.
That was science. Not a worksheet. Not memorization. Just a curious kid, asking questions, testing things out, and seeing what happens.
What This Means for Your Kids
This fall’s update is about helping every child experience that kind of science—the kind that sparks curiosity and builds confidence.
Here’s what’s coming:
- Flexible starting points – so kids can begin where they’re ready, not just based on age.
- Structured progression – that helps families see real growth over time.
- Richer content for advanced learners – without overwhelming beginners.
- More clinical concepts and vocabulary – when students are ready for deeper material.
- Wonder and critical thinking – baked into every stage of the learning process.
What’s Next
More details will be coming soon, but I wanted you to know that we’re building this for your kids—and we’re doing it with so much love and intention.
Thanks for being part of the Dr. Robin’s School community. You’re the reason we do what we do—and we can’t wait to learn with you this fall.
Talk soon,
